Multi-Million Pound Cost Transformation

An Enigma Seven expert has substantial experience in identifying areas to add value through cost controls and supporting transformation projects across a business to drive value-add for the organisation.

Most recently, Ben supported a London Bus concession through a comprehensive business-wide review, identifying and delivering c£3m of cost savings through a structured year-long transformation programme. By combining operational insight, financial challenge, and targeted implementation support, the programme delivered sustainable efficiencies while maintaining operational performance and service quality. Similar approaches have also been successfully deployed within Train Operating Companies and Rolling Stock Companies.

Over £10m Liability Reduction

Enigma Seven has successfully led, managed and supported the transition from private to public ownership of a UK railway operator, focusing on one of the most complex and high-risk elements of the process: minimising rolling stock transfer dilapidation costs.

By introducing robust governance, enhanced condition reporting, and structured challenge processes, Enigma Seven enabled a clearer understanding of asset condition and contractual exposure. This approach supported more effective negotiation and evidence-based decision-making, resulting in a reduction of over £10m in a year-long process. Crucially, Enigma Seven also developed repeatable reporting and implementation techniques, creating a framework that can be deployed elsewhere.

Seamless Transition to Public Ownership

An expert employed by Enigma Seven recently managed the successful demobilisation of a UK Train Operating Company into public ownership.

Through structured programme management and robust governance, Ben ensured that all transfer requirements, including financial and legal documents, were completed in advance of the transition. The transfer was delivered seamlessly, with no adverse impact to shareholders, employees, or passengers, while maintaining operational continuity and regulatory compliance throughout the process.
