Craig Walker is an experienced rolling stock and engineering programme leader with more than 20 years’ experience across the rail and aviation sectors.

He has led complex fleet, maintenance, modification and manufacturing programmes for organisations including Chrysalis Rail, East Midlands Trains, Bombardier Transportation and the Royal Air Force.

Craig combines strong technical knowledge with structured programme management, helping organisations assess feasibility, plan capacity, strengthen governance and deliver engineering projects safely, efficiently and within cost and schedule requirements. His expertise spans rolling stock engineering, project delivery, workshop operations, technical assurance and commercial support.

Experience
Craig began his career as an avionics technician with the Royal Air Force, where he developed strong technical, fault-finding and maintenance skills in safety-critical environments. He later moved into rail, initially working in testing, commissioning and frontline rolling stock maintenance before progressing into engineering and programme leadership roles.

During his time at East Midlands Trains, Craig held technical engineering, project management and fleet project roles. His experience included the integration of Class 15x vehicles, delivery of WSP, C6 and PRM programmes, supplier and contract management, modification support, technical documentation and maintenance planning.

As Projects Director at Chrysalis Rail, Craig led project, technical support and production delivery across multiple depots and customer locations. He introduced and developed governance processes covering project delivery, feasibility, capacity, technical assurance, cost and programme control, while supporting commercial proposals and tender responses.

Most recently, Craig has managed a portfolio of 15 concurrent projects involving the installation of infrastructure monitoring systems across multiple rail fleets. His role has included project scoping, capacity planning, governance, technical compliance and delivery against agreed cost and schedule requirements.

Leadership
Craig is a practical and technically credible leader who brings together engineering, operational and commercial perspectives to deliver workable solutions.

He has extensive experience coordinating delivery across multiple sites and managing competing priorities within safety-critical environments. His approach combines strong governance with detailed technical understanding, enabling risks, constraints and opportunities to be identified early.
