Consulting Project Manager

Overview:
This role plays a key role in supporting and delivering projects across the public transport sector. Working across multiple client organisations, this role blends analytical thinking, structured project delivery, and strong stakeholder engagement. It’s ideal for someone with solid project management skills and experience who enjoys solving complex transport challenges and influencing outcomes without direct authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of transport projects for both clients and internal teams deploying project management best practice tools and processes to drive outcomes
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and diagnostic assessments to understand client challenges Develop project plans, business cases, and recommendations grounded in evidence and industry best practice
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagement sessions with operators, authorities, and suppliers
  • Prepare high‑quality reports, presentations, and briefings for internal and client stakeholders
  • Track project progress, risks, and dependencies, ensuring deliverables meet agreed timelines
  • Contribute to procurement support, including requirements definition and supplier evaluation
  • Assist with operational readiness, change management, and implementation planning for client projects
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to internal knowledge development within the consultancy

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in transport, infrastructure, consulting, or another operationally complex environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into recommendations
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies (PRINCE2, PMBOK, APMP etc) Excellent communication and facilitation skills, comfortable engaging both frontline staff and senior leaders
  • Ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with project and analysis tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Monday.com, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with regulated or safety‑critical environments is highly beneficial

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in public transport (rail, bus, metro, tram, or related infrastructure)
  • Understanding of transport policy, operational processes, or regulatory frameworks
  • Professional certifications such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, or Agile/Scrum credentials
  • Prior consulting experience, either in‑house or with a consultancy
