Steve is a proven leader, with a deep understanding of the technical and commercial issues in the rolling stock supply and services sector, with a strong track record of achieving successful outcomes in sales and project management.
Upon joining the railway industry as a graduate entrant in 1986, Steve has held many senior positions such as Account Manager Regional Railways (ABB, 1990-1996), Business Development Manager (Porterbrook Leasing, 1996-2000), Bid governance Director and Bids Director (Bombardier, 2000-2013) and most recently as Head of Business Development (Siemens, 2013-2024).
Sales & Bidding
Steve has primarily worked in a customer-facing capacity in rolling stock services and has made many successful sales in a long career, ranging from new trains, maintenance contracts, spare parts and depot solutions for a wide variety of customers.
Experience
Some of the highlights to illustrate the depth of experience and success would include -
Framework contracts for the supply of spare parts and technical solutions for ABB (as the successor to British Rail Engineering) supplied EMUs and DMUs operated across the whole of the UK.
Successful introduction of new Trams to the networks of Strasbourg and Nottingham, including the necessary resources, spares and depot enhancements.
Development of financial modelling principles for ROSCO activities in the heavy maintenance market for rolling stock.
Numerous sales of service solutions for Bombardier and Siemens products, such as maintenance and spares agreements of varying types, and depot solutions where required. Steve has had significant roles in almost every major procurement of passenger rolling stock over the last 30 years.
